Vale Pope Francis

Jorge Bergoglio, 1936-2025

The College Principal, Mr Michael Lee, has written to the ڹϳ community to express his sadness over the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis:

Dear College community,

I’m sure all of you will join with me, and decent people everywhere, particularly within our own community, in remembering Pope Francis, who departed this life on Monday 21 April 2025.

With courage and without compromise he placed his life firmly in the Gospels and showed how we might do likewise.

Taking the name Francis, he stood with the marginalised; the poor, the migrant, and the refugee. His call to humankind to care for all creation was urgent, clear and of our time.

In a world that is too often brutal and indifferent, his anxiety on behalf of all of us, told us that we are loved and cared for.

The life of Jorge Bergoglio was, like his papacy, one of consequence for the Common Good. This remains a worthy challenge for how we lead our own lives.

May his memory be blessed.

For those of you who are able to attend, a mass in remembrance of the Pope will be celebrated tonight, Tuesday 22 April, at St Christopher’s Cathedral from 6:00pm.

Yours sincerely in St Mary ڹϳ,

Michael Lee
College Principal
