The PM's Press Conference

Students ask questions of the PM

It’s not every day you get to interview the Prime Minister!

With the social media age restrictions for under-16s coming into place on 10 December, the ABC’s Behind the News program invited five ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø students to take part in a student-led press conference at Parliament House on Wednesday 26 November.

The students were able to raise their questions and concerns about the new law to the Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, and Communications Minister, Anika Wells. One of our students’ questions even featured on the Prime Minister’s Instagram! Also in attendance were students from St Francis of Assisi Primary School and Kingsford Smith School.

The conference has now aired on BTN as part of their Social Media Ban special:

After the conference, the students went on a tour of Parliament House, led by Sarah Ison, the senior political reporter in The Australian’s Press Gallery bureau.

Congratulations to Mia, Jayden, Shashank, Charlotte, and Noah for representing ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø and their peers.

This event came just a few weeks after Ms Wells visited ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø with Member for Bean David Smith as part of a tour to share the benefits of the social media delay and to promote resources on the for anyone who needs support with the transition.
