Congratulations to the cast and crew of the College Musical, The Living End, for delivering a musical of real quality in Week 5 this term.
Led by Director Petrina Mansfield, the large team of staff and students performed the original zombie-themed musical to a packed Wanniassa Campus Theatrette over four nights.
The musical was based on a concept by staff members of ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø and written by Sydney scriptwriter Kathryn McLeod. The script was then tweaked by the production team in order to incorporate and showcase the impressive range of talent of the students involved. The script was humorous, gave each character depth, and incorporated modern themes.
The story:
A group of Capital High students have landed themselves in detention. After having their phones confiscated, their teacher disappears to investigate a disturbance in the corridor. The teacher returns, but not as herself. Realising that zombies have taken over the school, the students, despite their apparent differences, bravely rally together to investigate the rest of the school in hope of finding a cure to return their teachers and peers to their normal selves.
The story was complimented by an intense, visual experience, with choreography, costumes, makeup, programmed lighting, animation, and an electronic backdrop helping to set the mood. The music featured several Australian number one hits.
Overall, it was an extremely successful production.
The College thanks the core production team of Mrs Mansfield, Mrs McKenzie, Mr Lehmensich, and Mrs Hunter for the many hours they spent perfecting every little aspect of the musical.
Congratulations to the entire cast and crew who produced a stellar performance every night.
Finally, thank you to the large crowds that supported the musical throughout the week - it’s delightful to see the ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø community enjoying the talent of our staff and students again this year.
