Success for Gurabang and Meup Meup
Meup Meup and Gurabang shared the spoils at the College Athletics Carnival, which was held at the AIS on Tuesday 25 March.
Meup Meup were on track to take out another double, but Gurabang managed to win the battle for the Spirit Cup by just 15 points, stopping Meup Meup from claiming all four carnival trophies in 2025.
However, the students of Meup Meup managed to dominate on the track and in the field to claim their third Championship Trophy in a row. After setting an early lead, it was a win that was never in doubt.
House spirit was evident from the moment students entered the venue, with a huge variety of costumes on display, including 80s aerobics attire, dinosaurs, Greek gods, bananas, professional athletes, and a whole range of inflatable characters.
The warm conditions at the AIS Athletics Track did not deter students from competing in races, participating in novelty events, and cheering on their teams from the stands. The level of participation was such that the carnival ran a little over time and the Melissa Breen Gift race had to be postponed.
The carnival was another hugely enjoyable event for all, thanks mainly to the organisational skills of the College Sports Coordinator, Mr Will Anderson, and his team of teachers and support staff. The Year 12 members of the Student Representative Council also played a huge part in the running of the day.
The College congratulates all students for once again demonstrating their athleticism and house spirit, which made the carnival another huge success.
