Meup Meup defends its titles
Congratulations to Meup Meup for defending both trophies at the College Swimming Carnival, which was held at the Dickson Aquatic Centre yesterday.
Meup Meup performed strongly in the pool to win its fourth Championship Trophy in a row, while their enthusiasm and participation throughout the day helped them jump over Gurabang to win the battle for the Spirit Cup by just four points.
Students from all four Houses started the day brightly, with their energetic chanting of the House songs setting the tone for a great day at the pool.
A huge range of costumes were on show as students dressed to impress in line with the ‘Iconic Characters’ theme. There was a tremendous energy in the stands throughout the entire event.
In addition to the championship races, students were also able to participate in a number of novelty events or could make a donation to Caritas in order to relax in the baby pool or cool off in the water park.
Just before the final relays, the annual ‘ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø Marlin’ event was held, with Lily Young and Darcy Davis (both of Year 10) taking the honours at the end of two hotly-contested races.
Students are to be congratulated for their teamwork, spirit, high levels of participation, and their displays of athleticism, which contributed to an enjoyable day for all.
Thank you to the staff – especially the new Sports Facilitator, Mr Will Anderson – who played a crucial role in the carnival’s success.
