Science Student set for Singapore

Year 12 student Tyler Jones has flown to Singapore to participate in the 8th Asian Science Camp at Nanyang Technical University.

Tyler was one of two indigenous science students who won a Charles Darwin University scholarship to attend the six-day camp, where he will meet Nobel Laureates and attend science master classes with approximately 200 students from Asia, Australia, and Oceania.

Tyler, who studies four science subjects, was encouraged to apply for the scholarship by his teacher, Mr Mike Brennan.

"When I heard about the opportunity to apply, I thought straight away that Tyler is the kind of guy who needs to go for this," Mr Brennan said.

"We're very, very proud of him."

Australia has sent a delegation of nine students from across Australia as selected by Australian Science Innovations, which runs the national Big Science Competition and Australian Science Olympiad program.

ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø congratulates Tyler for his selection in the Asian Science Camp and hopes that he will return with a range of rich experiences to share with the science department and the rest of us at ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø.
